Full Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: PICK UP NAIROBI TO SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

Pick up by our guide from the Airport or your Nairobi Hotel and drive to Samburu National Reserve. Drive north of the Equator to Samburu National Reserve, on the edge of Kenya’s semi-desert lands where you may encounter some of the animals and vegetation that are typical of this region such as the Grevy’s Zebra, the Reticulated Giraffe, and the Somali Ostrich. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/camp.

Meal Plan:  Lunch and Dinner

DAY 2: FULL DAY SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

Today prepare for a full day game drive after breakfast. You will leave with your packed lunch as the park is extensive enough to see more wildlife. The peaceful atmosphere and the authentic wilderness experience set it apart from the better-known wildlife reserves in Kenya, there is plentiful wildlife and the bird watching is especially good. The reserve is fairly hot and semi-arid, making for easy game viewing. Enjoy 2 days full of game viewing in this harshly beautiful terrain where wildlife abounds along the Uaso Nyiro River, the park’s only source of drinking water. Later in the evening head back to the camp lodge.

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

DAY 3: DEPART SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE TO SWEETWATERS

Today after breakfast, we will head to Sweetwater’s, located in Ol Pejeta conservancy. Arrive in time for lunch at your camp. After Lunch, We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact, Sweetwater’s boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Dinner and Overnight at the lodge/camp.

DAY 4: FULL DAY AT SWEETWATERS

Spend the full day exploring Sweetwater’s, a privately owned conservancy, overlooking the peaks of Mount Kenya. The conservancy has a great number of wildlife including all the big five animals (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo) among other games. The conservancy also has a special sanctuary that shelters several rare and endangered species including black rhino, Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, and Chimpanzees. The Chimpanzee sanctuary is the only one in Kenya. It is a home for orphaned and abused chimpanzees, rehabilitating them to help them learn to live by themselves as in their own habitat. Dinner and Overnight at the lodge/Camp.
